Cacaosuyo is a chocolate maker with a simple mission: to make the best chocolate in Peru. That’s a lofty ambition, but since 2014, the Cacaosuyo team have devoted the their lives and careers to seeking out rare cacao and transforming unique beans into the best possible chocolate.
This bar is made with just two ingredients, cocoa beans and sugar, with “crunch” added by including some nibs on the bar. The bright and vibrant chocolate is full of fruit with a sherbet edge: sharp citrus and cherries mix with apricot and yuzu. A surprisingly sweet and tropical dark with a pleasant crunchy texture.
Cacaosuyo has crafted this chocolate from rare “piura” cocoa beans they discovered growing deep in the Peruvian rainforest in Piura province, 4 degrees south of the equator. These Piura beans are also known as “Porcellana” (porcelain) because of their distinctive pale white colour when they are first harvested.
