DESCRIPTION:
Smoked dunkel aged on oak staves • 5.2% ABV
We started our brewery on a shoestring budget by creating beers that would work with what we had available. With very little temperature control on the brew system, we had to steer away from traditional beer recipes and their precise natures. Fast forward ten years, insert a state-of-the-art brewing system (including a decoction vessel we use whenever we get a chance), and now we now have incredible control over the process and therefore now love to geek out on traditional beer recipes. We were inspired by a trip to Bamburg to make the best version of a smoked dunkel possible. The characteristics we fell in love with were the smooth chocolate finish with a hint of smoke: this little something we found had us wanting more.
Notes: a dark lager, subtly smoky from the aging on barrel staves, refreshing, with very little roast or bitterness.
